Goalie Feature: Colin Palmeter, Eastern Shore Mariners

Colin Palmeter, born in 2002, played this season with the Eastern Shore Atom A Mariners.  The team had a great season highlighted by winning the Truro Bearcats Christmas tournament.

Colin's favourite goalie is Tim Thomas of the Boston Bruins.  Like Thomas, Colin will do anything to keep the puck out of the net, even if it isn't technically perfect.

His favourite team is Pittsburgh and he's a big fan of Penguins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury.

Next season will be his second as an Atom and he might try out for triple A.  This summer he'll be playing in the Dartmouth Sportsplex summer league and playing softball in his home community of Lake Echo.  He also plays lacrosse.

I have had the chance to work with Colin for two years now, both in Eastern Shore goalie development clinics and in team sessions.  He has made huge strides in that time, both in his play and focus.  While he is a smaller package, he compensates for his lack of real estate with terrific hands, unbelievable flexibility and quick edgework.  I do see bit of MA Fleury and TnT in his game and every practice and extra session this year he brought his lunch pail and didn't  check out until the zamboni doors opened.  I look forward to seeing what he is going to bring to the table in the 2012-13 season.  Keep it up, Big C!!
