Between the Pipes

A foray in goaltending, athletics and development

Pats and Congrats to the Whalers Bantam C for winning the Gold Medal at Wayne Hicks Classic Tournament

The hardworking goalies, Josh and Cameron, snagged a championship at the annual Wayne Hicks Classic Tournament in Sackville, NB.

They had a 3-0 run in the round robin stage and followed it up with a commanding 5-2 victory over the Sackville Rangers on their home ice.

Cameron and Josh are new goalies to me, but I have had a blast working with them over the last two months.  Both their fathers are heavily involved in working with the kids on the ice, so it has been a great experience for me to have two assistant goalie coaches that are as active and attentive as Cameron and Josh.  They both bring very different skill sets to the table, but managed to perform well at the tournament this year and bring home some hardware to add to the mantelpiece.  Both tenders are in their first year in Bantam and will be looking to make a jump up in the next season.  With their focus and their interest to work on new concepts, I can see that easily happening.  Way to go, boys!!
